Food grade hose is mainly used to transport edible oil, beverage, milk, liquor and other foods. It is closely related to food safety. Therefore, the importance of food-grade hoses is self-evident.
Food grade hose composition
In general, food hose have an inner rubber layer to keep the fluid transmitted by the hose in the tube. The hose needs a reinforce layer made of steel wires or fibers woven to resist the pressure. The inner layer is mostly white and the reinforce layer is one or more spiral steel wires.
Working pressure
When selecting, it is to ensure that the working pressure of the hose is greater than that of the system. The pulse pressure or peak pressure in the system must be less than the working pressure of the hose assembly.
Test pressure
The test refers to the test usually carried out at room temperature using water or other suitable media. The hose assembly should maintain pressure for 30 to 60 seconds at 2 times the working pressure without leakage or pressure drop. And it needs to maintain pressure for 5 minutes without leakage or pressure drop.
Burst pressure
This means that the burst pressure should be 4 times the given working pressure. However, the burst pressure value in the product sample is only for test.
Fluid compatibility
The hose assembly must have good chemical compatibility with the media in contact. Otherwise, it may cause the hydraulic system to not work properly or the hose to age and fail prematurely.
Temperature range
In order to avoid affecting the performance of food grade hoses, the medium and surrounding ambient temperature should not exceed the temperature range that the hose itself can adapt to. Otherwise, the hose will age prematurely and cause leakage.
